Interesting that allthough Coma was given a PG rating we do get to see quite alot of Genevive Bujold, especially the shot of her in the hotel window, full-frontal.
Normally a film with nudity or even show of breasts would automatically get an R rating but I don't have a problem at all with Coma being PG with that in it.
Those shots of Genevive are tasteful and in context of the story.

Back in the late 1970s, the MPAA was a lot looser. Look at films like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", "Airplane", and "King Kong" all PG and all had scenes of topless women.

Don't forget Kramer vs. Kramer. We saw EVERYTHING about JoBeth Williams when she ran into the boy in the hallway.

The MPAA wasn't that strict about nudity in films in the 1970's and even up until the mid-1980's, as evident by the fact that The Beastmaster and Sheena both received PG ratings despite the fact that Tanya Roberts showed quite a bit of bare skin in both movies.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

Crichton's follow-up film "Looker" also had some fairly explicit nudity in it, buit still managed to obtain a PG rating.

Sharon Stone bared her boobs in Irreconcilable Differences.
Gale Garnett does a topless scene in Tribute.

Cathy Lee Crosby shows side boob and a few other actresses briefly flash their breasts in the PG-rated Crown International release Coach.
