it might just be, although i've only seen martin + the dead films + creepshow. it's better than creepshow, but yeah it may actually be better than all of the original 3 dead movies. I'm not sure - but I was very impressed with it.

This film really sucks, what are you people on about??? It was the worst film that I've seen of Romero's (seen 11, so it doesn't make the top ten)
Anyone who didn't like the 3 Dead films (after Day there were no more, I don't care what anyone says), would be mad to watch a film which combines a main character who can't act, nudity of ugly women, a bad script by Romero and even worse special effects from Savini! -

I agree this is his best film, it's definetly one of my favorites! Night, Dawn, and Day were good too, but i just never could get into them as much maybe cause i'm not a big zombie fan. I also liked Creepshow too, but Martin is in my opinion Romero's best!

Of the eight films of Romero's that I've seen, I guess I'd agree that this is his bestthough I also really enjoyed
Night
,
Dawn
, and
Season of the Witch
. (I need to see
Day
and
The Crazies
again, as I suspect I'd probably like them more now than I remember liking them when I originally saw them.)
What I most like about this film is how dense it is. It's a moving portait of a lonely and disturbed person, an insightful examination of the appeals of horror films (and their mythology), and a compelling depiction of an important period of transition for American society. So there's a lot to think about here, and Romero does a nice job of connecting these various thematic concerns in the film's narrative (e.g. the appeal of horror mythology to both Martin and Cuda does seem connected to how run down and disenchanted their environment is becoming)which still works fine as just a plain-old horror yarn about a psycho killer. -

I like all the movies I have seen by Romero martin is classic and I don't care what people say about diary of the dead its a good movie!!
