Minor point, but it's listed here as a 1976 film (the copyright date in the end credits), while IMDB supposedly uses the year a film was first shown publicly. Reportedly this had its premier at Cannes in 1977. Many reviews list it as a 1978 film. Which date is correct?

Yeah, I see the date listed here has been changed from '76 to '77.

Yeah, now imdb even lists its US release date as July 7, 1978.
I seem to recall it being out before 1978.
