I agree, and have friends who never liked superman until these films.
I just think there needs to be a medium, I like the 'more realistic approach' but would like to see superman the character more uplifting, the world he in can be dark and gloomy but he should be the light or 'hope'
And give Cavill some decent lines to read please. He said 400 words in BvS that is shocking for superman. -

I like Caville. I think he's perfect for a Superman today. Now that's not dissing Reeve's Superman but Caville's Man of Steel has finally given fans something we've longed for Superman kicking some butt, showing just how fast he is,how strong which I think is ever evolving.
Can't wait to see what becomes of Man of Steel 2. Personally I think they should hire a different director George Miller or someone that's new . And have Braniac as the main villain along with Inter Gang and either Parasite or Metallo and Lex of course. -

I grew up watching Christopher Reeve as Superman. I saw them all at the cinema with my dad, I enjoyed them then and I still do (well 1, 2 and to an extent 3). Reeve
was
Superman. That said, I think Cavill is excellent. He comes across as a little wooden at times but he looks fantastic and has a naturally easy-going charm (frequently shown in interviews) that is just right for the part; the fact that he hasn't had much of a chance to show that side of him has been due to storylines and direction. IMO he has the makings of a first-rate Superman.

I don't think any other actor could ever do for the role of Superman what Christopher Reeve did.
Henry Cavill is good but he's more or less trapped in the same corner that Brandon Routh got put in as even though they look the part enough and are decent in the role, due to horrible writers they're not given much to do or any really decent dialogue. I read somewhere in
Batman v. Superman
Cavill only had 42 lines of dialogueisn't that even less than Arnold Schwarzenegger had as The Terminator?

Honestly, I really like Cavill as Superman. I find he is given TERRIBLE dialogue/direction/story arc etc. However, Cavill's acting is just fine. I'd love to see him given a truly spectacular movie to really shine in.
However, I do not think he has the same charisma that Christopher Reeve had. I also don't think that is something people can learn. Some actors just have it, and some don't. It doesn't make them a good or bad actor.
