Is their bickering really supposed to be comedy? I was bored, hana.

Their bickering is due to the fact that she wanted
the Head Of Household position and she was a bit resentful of that.
At the time this show was made, yes, it was considered comedy. A lot of sitcoms relied on 'insult humor' and arguing for this. Not just comedy but to make tension between characters.
How would it be funny if they all got along right from the start?
Besides, most fans loved that part & were
disappointed later when they did become friends.
Go for it or just be a gopher!
