this movie is a sheer stroke of brilliance, and it will forever have my reverence. That being said, I simply can not bring myself to revisit it ever. Brilliance aside, I can not endure the bleak sadness of it. And for me, that's saying a lot!

I completely agree, I could watch United 93 and Dead Man Walking multiple times but definitely not this.

Came here to say the same thing. I've put off seeing this for years, knowing how hard it would be for me to watch. I'll recommend this film to others, but I won't be watching along with them.

For a long time I said the same thing. Then, today I watched it again after 30 years. Moving all over again.

I've seen it quite a few times.

It took me quite some courage to watch this the first time it was released in the theaters. I must have seen it 4 more times after that. I was hooked and intrigued by this incredible and powerful film. This movie operates on our conscience on so many levels, but is purely honest and never pulls any punches.
The vivid use of the sets, costumes, acting, character development along with all of the elaborate details and nuances are indicative of Lynch's brilliance.

I watched it all the way through for the third time. It was on, I believe, Showtime. Never fails to move me.
