Anyways, Chewie & Leia shoot at Slave 1 just to send a statement to Boba, 'we are going to get Han back.' They knew perfectly well their blasters would not help at all, and is a moment of desperation mixed with frustration, as they were so close to getting him.

Maybe they were aiming at the hyperdrive rather than the passenger cabin or the fuel tank, they were trying to keep the ship from taking off rather than trying to destroy it?
