Not Flash Gordon, but have you seen Starcrash (1978)? It's one of those spaghetti versions of things and that one was so much fun, and hilarious. With some surprising credits, like John Barry doing the soundtrack.

I read an interview with Max in which he admitted that he was thrilled at the opportunity to play Ming because it gave him a chance to just cut loose and have fun.

Couldn't understand why Flash would resist her and prefer Dale, who was so plain and boring in comparison. And especially after she had saved his life! I certainly wouldn't have held back… -

Yes she is - though on this viewing (as of 10 minutes ago) I was much taken by Mariangela Melato - a name which for some reason also sounds like a very nice ice cream(?).
