Ranger? He wanders off before the climax, and his fate is left unknown.

Both him and Cabren made it to the stairs, but I think Ranger was hurt and couldn't go on. They had a little chat at the stairs. I assume Ranger sat there waiting for Cabren to get back from the fight. Perhaps they both got back out alive in the end?

Cabren, from what I recall, was possessed by the same evil force that possessed his superior officer in the end. Do you think him and Ranger left the planet together, and when they got back to Earth, Cabren, now possessed, took over the Earth? I'm sure if Ranger realized this, he would have tried to stop Cabren in some way.

I do believe they both managed to get back to Earth. I don't remember what condition their ship was in, but Cabren with his new powers would probably see to their return. And if Ranger decided to do something, then I doubt he would be a match to Cabren, whether he did something on their trip back or on Earth. Perhaps Cabren managed to break the evil bond and become a force of good.

Remember what the Master told Cabren about the planet and the temple. It was build by a long gone race for children to face and confront their fears and defeat them.
Ranger faced and defeated his fear. So he passed the test. Cabren early said that he was to scared to be afraid. So he had his fears under controlled.
When the Cabran defeated the Master. He told the Master that he will never do what he did. But the Master told him that if he didn't. Then he will sit back and watch his people fall into darkness.
Cabran knew right then and there that he was now the Master. And he had to do what the Master did.
So Cabran and Ranger did make it off the planet and returned home. And Cabran took his place as Master.
Now the question is. Did Cabran tell Ranger that he was the new Master? Or did he keep it as a secret?
