This movie was boring!

100% Agreed.
A lot of scenes where NOTHING HAPPENED just intercut with POV shots or quick cuts of the killer turning his head. The long drawn out scenes of her changing in the room, the graveyard search, the jail, the hotel clerk, and the other couple in the basement all went nowhere and had nothing to do with anything.
Good gore, great atmospheric music, but a big disappointment overall. -

I found it very suspenseful, and it's one of my favourite 80's slashers. Terror Train, on the other hand, I never found particularly scary The Prowler, on the other hand, has two chase scenes, one of which is sustained for an admirable length. Also, it manages two or three good shocks - the final nod to Carrie is okay, but the prowler makes a sudden appearance twice during the extended chase that startled me quite a bit.
You could do a lot worse on a blind buy -

The movie was so-so I guess. I loved the killing scenes and some the chase scenes but some did play out too long. My main problem with the film is that is happended (not really sure) perhaps all in one day and night. There was never any time to actuall get to know the characters to even care if they were killed. Now Girls Nite Out and the Dorm That Dripped Blood are movies of the same era not to be missed. I also disagree with the previous post about this movie being compared to My Bloody Valentine. I am a big fam of MBV and this surely falls behind it.

its not really fare to condemn it for being cliche. this came out in 80/81 so the horror/slasher movies that came out around this time created what we now consider cliches. it was more or less original at the time you know?
but yeah the movie was definately boring and whats up with the dude's eye turning white when stabbed through the head? my guess is that they are implying the attack caused them to roll back but we just see a sudden cut making it seem like they suddenly change white. if the point was them rolling back, they should have had a closeup of the dummy head and showed them roll back. but if i'm wrong then i have no clue why they turn white. -

It was one of the earlier slasher films yet it still managed to rip off Halloween, Carrie, and Friday the 13th. There was little originality here and the plot made no sense. What on earth was that scene with the hotel clerk other than to waste minutes of time?
Farley Granger was the only person who could have been the killer since nobody else was old enough and not on screen. Some mysterious stabber was mentioned early on but that wasn't enough to fool anybody.
How did Major Chatham get upstairs to stare at the chicks without a stair lift? Why did we never see him again after he grabbed the woman?
What sort of cop left the woman on her own most of the time and kept her with him while trying to track down a killer?
Good death scenes but the rest was rubbish. -

spoilers
Yep this movie had severe pacing issues and sub plots that lead absolutely NOWHERE. The kid in the jail, the couple in the basement, the old pervert.never heard from again. I was hoping he'd kill the old bastard.
The hotel clerk scene I can understand because it was an extremely flimsy attempt to make the audience the believe that the sheriff was really on a fishing trip and not on campus slashing people. But again, like someone mentioned before it really is painfully obvious he was the one, so I don't know why they even bothered. I think overall there is like literally 20 minutes of pointless wandering around and dead end sub plots.

Although I enjoyed the movie, I do have to admit that the pace was dreadful. The story seemed to stall multiple times throughout. The entire mid-section was a chore to get through.

Absolutely. Dreadful pacing for sure. Since posting this though I've actually come to enjoy the film alot more than I did at first. My rating is 8/10 now.
It's a sad thing that your adventures have ended here -

Cool to see you've come around a bit. It's not a perfect film, but it certainly has its redeeming qualities that put it on par with the cream of the early '80s slasher crop.
