the head exploding scene is one of my favorite head exploding scenes. i laughed really really hard. apparently (according to commentary) savini had cherry pie in the head for the scene.

I read,I think in Savini's make-up book Grande Illusions, that he used to bung anything he could get his hands on in those fake heads for the exploding head fx in the movies he worked on (condoms, shrimp cocktail, apple cores, etc).

That was a great scene. I even watched it a 1/8 speed, and even that slowly you couldn't tell it was artificial, or see any flaws. Excellent.
A couple other movies with notable exploding-heads:
          -Scanners
          -Chopping Mall
