Nowadays Augrah's nipples freak me out the most.
When I was a child, the multi-toothed dog creature that jumps out and scares Jen freaked me out.
I'm watching this with my three year old as I'm writing this, and the Beetle creatures freak him out the most by far.

The disrobing of the Chamberlain disturbed me. For one thing, his excessive clothing seemed like a part of his body and it appeared to me (as a very young child) as if they were taking off part of his back. Also, seeing him naked was even grosser than seeing the other gross skeksis fully dressed. He was so skinny and grey.
The other part that bothered me was when Aughra's home was burned. She must've worked very hard to build that contraption that showed the universe. Electricity didn't exist. It must have been powered by pulleys, gravity, or a nearby waterfall. It was sad to see her amazing creation destroyed. I was so glad that Aughra wasn't killed. She needed a bigger part. Her yelling at the Skeksis was an awesome scene! -

I think the most disturbing this is that I was 2 when this came out, watched it on TV when I was 3 and wasn't disturbed by it at all! I thought it was all awesome! lol I still love it and watch it quite a bit, and now I find some parts of it disturbing. What a great movie!

Well I wasn't around when the film came out but boy When my mum first introduced it to me, I swear I was a fan right away. But what disturbed me most about the film is probably what freaked everyone else out - Kira wasn't my favourite, but I nearly squirmed when that purple beam of light hit her.
But watching the Skeksis tear apart one of their own kind - with the most amazing and appropriate score by Trevor Jones - was really unnerving. If only the sequel was still underway I was looking forward to seeing just what new disturbing imagery they had to offer on a silver platter.
BUT- What do you think? Now, crush me with your rebuttles!! -

personally, I lost it at the death of the Skeksis. when he just seemed to crumble into the bedshudders
I didn't watch it again for about 12 years when it became one of my first DVDs. I was probably 20 at the time. lol. -

I just watched it today for the first time in about 20 years and while I still think it's very weird and demented lol it's cool in it's own unique way. I like it but at the same time don't have a desire to watch it repeatedly. The only part that really disturbed me as a kid was the draining of their essence and drinking it, lol I remember thinking it was gross and the look on their little faces while being drained was a little horrifying. As an adult watching it now nothing bothers me but I still think it's really weird, it's definitely original.
