What would have happened if the prophecy weren't fulfilled?

Augra said that the Skeksis would have "power over the stars", whatever that means. Also, the Skesis said that they "would live forever." Would this have been literally true? What would have happened when the next Great Conjunction came around? Would the Skeksis gain even more power? Or could they have lost the power they had becuase of another prophecy?

I hope you don't mind me responding. You sound just like me, like what if Jen had gotten the wrong shard, what if he healed the crystal and the UrRu (Mystics) never showed up seeing as the UrSkeks, the beings at the end of the movie, basically made the castle with just their powers. I think it was literal. They would be able to make the suns align and shine on the crystal so they could live forever and not have to wait until minor conjunctions. Well seeing as the shard couldn't be destroyed, at least I don't think it can, maybe some other species of Thra could have healed the crystal. Brings up so many questions. Sorry I couldn't give you definite answer, I often ask myself these same questions.
