Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — First Blood

3 things stand out to me:

    1. The sheer brutality of the filming, so many injuries and to himself, Dennehy as well(broken ribs). The sheer recklessness of how the actors were treated in the filming remains almost unique.
    2. He basically dismisses the actors playing the National Guardsmen as amateurs and regrets their scene. Total diss.
    3. He says near the end that "First Blood" remains the best action film he ever made!

Why?! That scene nails the comical mismatch between Rambo and the weekend warriors playing john wayne in the woods. That dude yelling "Bullseye!" lmao. They were funny as hell. It's a great scene, brought some much needed levity.
Stallone takes himself too seriously sometimes. His expendables movies were filled with so much goofy humor as well, way cheesier than that. At least this scene was actually charming.
My reputation precedes me. Otherwise I'd be late for all my appointments.

That was a good commentary and I came away from it with a decent outlook on Stallone. I might be misremembering it, but he seemed alright to me. Then again, I liked Guinevere Turner's commentary for
        American Psycho
, as well, and that wasn't received all that warmly.
        "I don't like fruit."
"Well y'ought to. 'Cause you're bananas. Right, Chewie?"
