First Blood and Rocky were excellent movies, even with their flaws.
If Stallone never makes a sequel for either would these movies hold up better? Each film starts transforming serious characters into more comic book heroes with the follow up sequel in the series. -

My opinion is that either film would have held up fine, and neither benefited nor suffered from the sequels.
I like the first two Rocky sequels, but hate all Rambo films (First Blood excluded of course).
Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.
