Speaking of Dr. Who, wonder how the Daleks would get along their competitors? 😉
I imagine the mother ship went to London for the same reason most of us tourists like to go.friendly people, great sites, and a chance to perhaps see the Royal family 🙂

Which leads me to a funny thought.
What if the royals were actually shape changing lizards..It'd be like visiting the rellatives?

There were 50 of these ships and well it wasnt just fresh water they were after, and an Island nation is surrounded by water 😛
They were here for all of us, every living thing and all of the planet's water. London is as good as any place if you ask me.

Do you think the London-based Visitors had bad teeth, a la Austin Powers, so they'd fit in?

This film does have similarities with 'The Dalek Invasion Of Earth',and there must of been resistance groups in London or the UK,not just Los Angeles!

Only a moron would make such a dumb thread. Also they had 50 ships.

London is one of the biggest cities in the world. And Earth was being invaded. By military terms London had to have a ship there.

Infiltration and subversion. The visitors initially come under the guise of peace and wanting to normalize relations with the humans as opposed to carry out an all out war. Nukes apparently hurt. So do armor piercing bullets and the humans out numbered them. They went to conquest only after their hand was forced.
This being the case London is a major world capital. Things that are decided by a bunch of old white guys in London affect the world each and every day. More influence than some of the other cities I'm sure.
Besides, hold a press conference in London and they don't bother looking much at the mothership draining the ocean out in bfe.

What's wrong with London? The idea was there were 50 motherships hovering over 50 cities around the world. Obviously, they would hover over the big ones.
