Released on this day–9 Dec.–in 1983, John Carpenter's CHRISTINE. A tender love-story about a boy and his car–a haunted, jealous girl of a car that spectacularly destroys anyone who crosses it for our viewing pleasure–the film was an adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name and released at the height of King-to-screeen adaptations. It was directed by Carpenter in his prime, when he was making nearly a movie a year, every one of them bona fide genre classics (this was his follow-up to THE THING).

I love the chase scene when Christine starts off with using her high beams behind Buddy's Camaro while he's listening to "Beast of Burden" with Trelawney.

The car going up the narrow alley to kill that fat guy was pretty impressive.

Just reversed the film after damaging the car prob.
Hits it with a sledge hammer. Make a dent. Gets out of the shot. Take a pic. Repeat.

But CHRISTINE was a lot better movie. She wouldn't have made Harry Callahan's day.

So… Christine was not only transgender but attracted to other male Plymouth Furys?
