You know maybe if you eat more comfort food you wouldn't have to go around shooting people.

The death scene hits me hard. Emma is lying there and she looks over at her mother who is looking at her and the music starts. Emma brings her hand up and waves good-bye. That last look at her mother that says I love you mom and good-bye Aurora realizes she's gone and looks away. You can hear her taking deep breaths trying to hold it together as the nurse checks her vitals and then you can see her starting to shatter. Also, the scene where she has to tell her children she's not going to get better. She tells Tommy that she knows he loves her and not to feel bad because he never told her. The look on the younger boys face when he's leaving the room and closing the door. I've got a lump in my throat now just thinking about it.

I agree .. I just got through watching it and that's the part and the only part that makes me cry .. and having lost both parents I think of them and cry even more .. great movie .. I think maybe this is the 20th time that I have watched it .. when I started out I was only going to watch a little bit .. great movie .

I start when Aurora gets back to the hotel, and Garrett is there. Aurora finally has someone who can support her..and it's a rare moment of vulnerability from her.
After thatI'm just a sobbing mass of goo for the next 30 minutes or so.

As a 46 year old guy who has lost both parents, I get more sad than I ever did when I watch this movie. As others have pointed out, I think the scene that chokes me up the most is right after Emma dies and Aurora's reaction and responses"Nothing could be harder" and at that moment any animosity towards Flap is suspended. I also notice more the scene at the end where Patsy comes over to sit with Flap and how she gently nudges his knee away so she can sit down..Flap then starts to let the tears come and as he puts his head on her shoulder she gives him that gentle kiss on the forehead.

                      Best parts:
The way each line was delivered and the body language in this movie is the real marker.
They are so natural and funny but real and I am also obsessed with this time period, from the grocery store to Auroras back yard ( phenomenal)
                      I love when.
Aurora spits out blah blah blah to Jack Nicholson to call out his bull beep essentially when he is sitting in the gazeebo with her explaining his " starting to get a feeling of obligation towards her etc" living next door. id like to think she improv'd her reaction 🙂
I love when Emma and Flap are having their who gets the kids convo and he basically is asking for validation and forgiveness and she is relieved that the two of them are just talking. finally and it seems like a real set of people and its simple and sweet and they both kind of frustrate you but i believe that is what real people do and rationalize and act like. its not always so dramatic and right, its just a blend of expressions and body language.
I like when Emma tells the older son that he shouldn't feel guilty for being so hard on her later down the road i know you love me, yeah i like you .ughthat part gets me every-time. so real, hes so hurt but acts exactly like I remember boys acting that day n age.
and lastly, when Aurora slaps the son,, i hear the cub scouts are some of the best aroundour mother was too lazy to ever take usslap! he breaks down..she says I just cant have you talking about your mother like that. so much grief in all of them. so good.
they wouldn't have the right screenplay and real nuance and time this film had if they made it today.
I was closin in on another BarBarian!
