Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Uncommon Valor

Blaster has a line where he says something like "all human problems can be solved by the appropriate application of high explosives." In Valkyrie, the bald German officer (the guy with the glasses Bill Nighy's character's adjutant). he says almost the exact same thing, when we first meet his character.
OK, I found who the Valkyrie guy is. Here is the actor's IMDB page, with photos so you can recognize him. His name is Christian Berkel. The character's name in Valkyrie, (he is probably based on a real guy, or a combination of real people), is Colonel Mertz von Quirnheim.

Yes, that character was a real guy. Here is a wikipedia article about him:

Anyway, does anybody know if there is a stated connection? Maybe both movies borrow the line from an earlier movie, or a book? I really like both Uncommon Valor and Valkyrie, so I don't mind if Valkyrie borrowed a line or two. I'm just curious to know what happened.
You are toast, my toasty friend.

if i'm not mistaken, that was actually a quote by Col. "Bull" Simons during the planning of the Son Tay raid. Or at least something very much like it.
