Jennifer Love Hewitt was not the original actress cast as Robin. Partway through the filming of the 1989 season, the original actress was released and Hewitt was given the role (perhaps explaining why she was one of the few characters to not share their name with the actor playing the role.)
I read the above on IMDB. I seem to remember that the original actress chosen for the robin character was one who won a contest of some sort I may be wrong. But anyway was curious as to why they let the original actress go? I didnt know this until read it on the website. -

I wondered this, as well (about the cast replacement, not JLH's name) - and does anyone know who the original girl was?
By saying that they "released her," does that mean that an entire half-season was filmed, but never aired because it featured the original Robin? I know that Kids Inc. seasons weren't exactly long, but that sounds like 5 or 6 episodes that were never aired
