The
Transformers
(Hasbro) cartoon series gave us a lot of nice vignettes about various lines of robotic warriors such as the Autobot Aerialbots, the Decepticon Combaticons, and the Dinobots.
Two special lines of robots, the Headmasters (Autobots) and the Insecticons (Decepticons) were of special design-note.
The Headmasters were robots whose heads transformed into miniature warriors and could serve as the drivers of the vehicles the parent-body robot transformed into.
The Insecticons were predatory creepy giant insect robots with laser-weapons.
The Headmasters symbolized teamwork, while the Insecticons symbolized betrayal.
These two lines revealed the general avant-garde 'war-stratagem storytelling' allure of this cartoon series, I think, which is perhaps why we're so fascinated by the overall 'descriptive design' of these characters/avatars.HEADMASTER: Get out of that corn-field!
INSECTICON: First, taste my laser-spray!
HEADMASTER: You're a creepy wasp!
INSECTICON: I'm a hungry beetle!
HEADMASTER: Your weakness is your greed.
INSECTICON: Your weakness is your optimism.
HEADMASTER: My head will shoot your thorax!
INSECTICON: I will lunge at you like a bug!
HEADMASTER: You can't shoot at two things at once.
INSECTICON: Taste my plague!Headmasters:
