How old was D'abo in this movie?

Yes, when I thought she was 18 till I saw her age, then it hit me.
Filming most likely took place in 1983, and since she was born in 1969, I agree with those who guess she was 14 when filmed.
At least it wasn't an open mouth kiss, so I say no big deal. But yes, once I found out her true age, that was my first thought. -

Meh, maybe nowadays they wouldn't have a 14 yr. old kiss an "older" guy like Arnold in a movie, but in the 80s it wasn't particularly "gross," plus, gimme a greak, it was a PECK, closed-lips kiss, not some tongue-tickling-uvula french kiss. Also, talking about things that were OK in the 80s but maybe not now, notice how the horses take a LOT of falls and get knocked over a lot (Conan even "punches" one in the face in order to knock its rider offaside from the camel he bops on the head LOL). I don't think nowadays animal rights activists would allow the same kinds of techniques to fell horses in movies. They either tripped them up with wire or the rider pulled and leaned back so hard the horse would fall backwardthere are a lot of scenes in this movie where the horses fall and their faces plant right into the ground (soft dirt, at least). They just cannot do that these days.

Th real question is, is the age of the actress what makes it potentially disturbing, or the age difference? d'Abo was 14(ish) and Arnold was about 36- a 22 year age difference. Fast forward 10 years to "Interview With A Vampire" and at 31, Brad Pitt was 19 years older than Kirsten Dunst- but she was only 12!
d'Abo's kiss was on par with the way an actress would kiss the actor playing her Father. Dunst's kiss not so much.
BTW- They're called "stunt horses" they're trained to fall, and they actually have fun when they do it. And they still do it in films, all the time. The horses falling in everything from "Gladiator" to "Lord of the Rings" to "Cowboys and Aliens" are real, except for when they're killed or injured on screen, when they're plastic and horsehide mockups or CG.

Kirsten Dunst's "kiss" with Brad Pitt lasts for all of a second and isn't even seen. Her hair is in the way of any contact. She complained later how "gross" it was but I bet a few years later if they had been cast in something where the script called for her to kiss him she would have been all over him.
The horses are tripped with wire and it is an abominable practice. Why do you think they filmed in Mexico? A short drive to the slaughterhouse in case some of them were injured which they undoubtedly were. And no, they do not enjoy it. Your name is well chosen.

Funny what a big fuss some people make about kisses in films. D'Abo was only touching Arnold's lips (with her lips firmly closed too) for a moment and even though she was only a teenager.
I wonder what those people think of "The Innocents" where a 12-year old boy kisses 40-year old Deborah Kerr, or the "soul transfer" scene in "The Prophecy" were Eric Stoltz kisses a young girl (11) (and that's not just a short peck with closed mouths - now that's what I call borderline). -

I just watched this again for the first time in awhile, and yes, the thought of how they got away with tripping all those horses crossed my mind. Even punching a camel on its head wouldn't be allowed these days lol. It's funny when watching it, i had 2 thoughts 1) how did they get away with all that animal cruelty and 2) how old was that girl? Good to know I am not the only one.

I just saw a 2012 interview with her on YouTube, and she said she was "13-14" during the shooting of Conan the Destroyer.

That cant be right because she filmed nude scene's prior to her role in "Conan" in the John/Bo Derek film "Bolero" in 1983 which was delayed from release until August/September 1984 due to conflict's between the Derek's and production company distributor Menham Golan/Yoram Globus The Canon Film Group also of the film editing as well. Olivia D'abo filmed her role as natural dark hair brunette a side-kick friend of Bo Derek's character a gypsy type nymp. She would after make "Conan the Destroyer" and colour her hair dirty blonde but "Conan" got released earlier in June 1984 I think.
"13-14" seems a tad too young and figure she more than likely between 16-18 when she filmed both Bolero * Conan during 1983.
I cannot imagine given her full frontal nudity scenes in "Bolero" quite a few of them actually that she would have been permitted to as a minor of "13-14" unless her parent's consented but it's bizzare.
Then again Bo Derek was 16-17 in 1973-4 then billed by her real name Mary Kathleen Collins when she made her 1ST Indie movie directed by John Derek known as "Once Upon a Time" aka "Fantasies" that never got released until video in 1981 after Bo Derek was famous in which she too was also full-frontal naked for several scenes and also a minor under age 18. No wonder that flick never got released until many years later

OOPS just checked out actress Olivia D'Abo IMDB page and ses Born: January 22, 1969 in Paddington, London, England, UK.
HOLY beep So that does mean that she turned 14 January 22 in 1983 the year she would make the film's "Bolero" 1ST though released later August/Sept 1984 and "Conan" 2ND though released earlier June 1984.
Good greif had no issue with her role/age in "Conan" as her kiss was fairly innocent and Conan had no interest in her anyway BUT given that she first filmed "Bolero" as Paloma in a few head-to-toe full frontal nudes scenes below and above waist Im rather shocked and very, very suprised she was permitted to do so given she was 14 and wouldn't turn 15 until January 22nd 1984 with BOTH movies releasing mid-late of that Year.
How on earth were the Derek's able to do this given she was a minor at the time filming and still a minor only all of 15 by the time of these two movie's releases. Would have thought The Film Board or Union of child actor law's would have "Balked" at this exploitation and prevented it.
Guess the Derek's and Golan-Globus Cannon Film Group were not Unionised for minor child actor's ???
