I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS BUT PETER WELLLER WAS SO TERRIFYING AND GREAT IN HIS ROLE IN THIS FILM.I AM STILL STUNNED TO THIS DAY EVERYTIME I SEE THIS MOVIE THAT HE WASN'T NOMINATED FOR AT LEAST A BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE.

I whole-heartedly agree with this. Weller always puts in solid work, and he was fantastic in is this particular film, very menacing. An Oscar-nod was definitely due here.
This would be a great double-bill with "This Boy's Life."

Are you guys being sarcastic? Peter Weller was horribly miscast in this. His bland, robotic speaking style kept making me think he was getting ready to say "Dead or alive, you're coming with me." I thought he was the weak link. Rutger Hauer would have been awesome.

Are you okay?Robocop wasn't even made yet when this came out.He was really scary in this movie.Rutger Hauer I could see,but he has more of a calm voice, where Peter can change his tone to a really mean voice and give you those evil eyes as well.He reminded me so much of a friend of mine's stepfather the way he got mad at those kids in this movie.I found this to be a very entertaining drama.Nowadays this type of movie would end up on the Lifetime channel.

He was nasty during the filming..read this on wikipedia..On the set of Firstborn, Corey Haim's first day of shooting was with Weller, and he went up to compliment the older actor on his performance. Weller collared Haim, throwing him up against a wall to warn him not to speak to him after a take, and it took three assistants to separate them. Haim later admitted that he was terrified by the experience.

I'm not sure how true that is
Furthermore, IF it did happen, it sounds like it could have been a piece of method acting, where Weller really wanted to scare Haim so it could translate to the film more realistically, in which Haim's character is supposed to be scared of Weller's character.
Not everything on Wiki is true, and I wouldn't go by anything Haim stated either, if he did say that.

Awww. That's pretty harsh. Corey was just an 11/12 year old kid when he made this movie. What he said was most likely out of context. Corey in another interview, said that everyone was super friendly to him on the set, & he was pretty good his very first film role!
Rest Peacefully Sweet Corey

This stuff does happen on movie sets.Jim Carrey apparently stayed in character during the filming of Man On The Moon and I believe he got into an altercation on the set with an actor.I believe it might have been during the wrestling scene.I think it was Friday The 13th Part 4 Ted White who played Jason stayed away from the actors and kept his distance from them.He was only in the mask when he was around the actors, otherwise he stayed in his trailer.
