Why would Freddy and his crew want to hang around with Daniel ? I've got no sympathy when Daniel kicked the door into Freddie's face.

It was an accident, and Daniel immediately apologized. They initially thought Daniel was cool because he did know some karate so they wanted to hang out with him.
