It's been on my "Watchlist" on iMDB for over 4 years and I just watched it tonight. What a profoundly moving and honest movie. I recommend watching it if you haven't seen it.

What took you so long? Were you waiting for it to come out on Criterion?

I wish I could "forget" about this film in my memory and then watch it again! There are a few movies I'd choose.

I love that way of putting it. I'm a person who watches fewer movies than most people do but I get deeply involved in the ones I do watch. I watch movies I love multiple times over periods of years. That can be a different kind of aesthetic experience unto itself, developing a seasoned love of a film that matures with age.
Still, sometimes I do find myself wishing I could see a certain movie for the first time again. But of course you can only see it the first time once!

My memory is going, so I get to do this but do not recommend it. I used to have a nearly photographic memory for movies and now can see one, come here to rate it, and find I'd already done that. It's better to remember and see it again in a new way than to repeat the experience.

Strange, I share this sentiment. I was thinking so, before coming here. And somehow, it had escaped me throughout the last 30 years.
Now I start to wonder what other items I might have missed in case I die tomorrow. Can't be much, though!

This is the only movie I've ever seen that actually made me cry. It's unforgettable for me based on that alone.

Looks like a long and boring POS of a movie.
Think I may read up on it on Wiki and if it looks interesting enough may watch it.
                        If not, I didn't miss a thing.
