While we're on the subject of music, any of you guys familiar with the song Amy Madigan sang on the soundtrack to Walter Hill's Crossroads? It's wonderful.
I have that soundtrack. It has a lot in common with SOF: Ry Cooder songs and a
soundtrack that is much better than the movie. Crossroads should have been called The Guitar Kid.
The Amy Madigan song is called something like That Man Made A Woman Outta Me. It's very bluesy and suggestive. I kind of had the hots for Amy Madigan back in the eighties. I almost want to add her to my list of women who could tie me to a chair and give me the kind of discipline that a filthy pig, like myself, so desparately deserves.

Great answer, Huskie Jon. Though I would say Amy's song is more than suggestive. It's flat-out sexual. And completely badass.

Tonight is What it Means to be Young.
They still play I Can Dream About You on the radio, and I get sad because it reminds me of Streets of Fire.

I love the entire soundtrack, but I'm partial to "I Can Dream About You" and I love the dance moves while they're performing it.

I have to agree on "Nowhere Fast" & "Tonight is What it Means to be Young". I also like the Ry Cooder?? track (Played when Tom Cody receives the letter from his sister). Does anyone know the name of the track or if it's even available? I have the soundtrack but it's not on there unfortunately. 😞

The music and specifically the music scenes are the best part about this movie. Frankly, though I always had an 80s romanticism about this movie, watching it now, the quality of the movie outside of the music is so poor that I wonder if the whole point of the movie wasn't to sell records.
I always wondered why none of the Ellen Aim or Blaster songs became hits because they are all excellent tunes. I always thought it ironic that the one Sorels tune became the only hit from the movie.
That being said, I have to agree with the radio jocks of the time. I Can Dream About You is the best song in the movie.

Have to agree with pretty much all of that, although I don't think the movie is that bad. The music scenes are definitely the highlight though, well that and any scene that a young and VERY hot Diane Lane is in ;). Honorable mention to Elizabeth Daily too, who was pretty sexy in the 80's, and has sung on countless soundtracks.
Favorite song of the movie for me is "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young", followed very closely by "I Can Dream About You", which always reminded me of a girlfriend that moved away when I was in my early 20's. Also like the song in the closing credits "Deeper and Deeper", though not nearly as much as the others.
I still really enjoy the movie, especially the last 10-15 minutes, and have it in my collection, but the one thing that just makes me cringe every time I watch it is the laughable costume they came up with for Defoe. I just can't take him remotely seriously in those vinyl overalls. Not exactly the tough, leather and jean clad thug you'd associate with the head of a biker gang. Also, although I like him in just about everything else he's done, I didn't care for him much in that role, he just seemed miscast to me. Again though, that could perhaps be largely attributed to his attire.

I think Meat Loaf's version is just okay. The version in this film is much better because it has a lot more boom socko pow punch to it.
