Jason X does not represent real horror film from 80s haydays. it is **** outlier.
none of the classic horror franchise of 1980s have 70 min of straight actions. this does not happen. terminator is balls to wall action that kills vegans when they watch such manly firepower take over their screen.
aliens is sci-fi action like terminator. it has horror element, but having horror element does not make it horror.

Terminator is not non-stop action the whole movie. Most of it is Reese and Sarah fleeing for their lives as the Terminator kills anything in its path. The most action we get is the Tech Noir shootout and later the firefight on the highway with the pipe bombs. Lots of horror movies have action scenes like this, with the victims using firearms against an unstoppable killer. Horror movies even have the classic trope of the slasher villain clinging to the top of a car as it speeds down a highway, like in Halloween IV or Scream 2.
Terminator is definitely slasher/horror -

let me remind you of action scene after sarah connors eliminated:- tech noir shoot out - shotguns, uzi 9mm, amt hardballer - all firepower. all shoot many times
- after tech noir - kyle and sarah flee terminator in alleyways, kyle shoot gas tank, it explode in massive fireball, t-800 jump on car & punches through screen of car before kyle flip car and he fly off onto ground - this is action scene
- kyle and sarah evade cops in chase scene through la streets and into garage - this is action scene
- kyle and sarah ambushed by t-800 in parking garage - he shoot at them with shotgun. kyle shoots back as both drive at high speed across highways. t-800 then chase them into underground tunnel where both cars crash into wall - action scene.
- t-800 assualts oinker HQ. there is massive firefight for 5-10 mins. many cops KIA. first, t-800 crash car through door and mows down everyone as they fire back with M-16 assault rifles - action scene.
- sarah fall asleep in storm drain & dreams of future warzone. kyle and resistance soldiers return to base where infiltrator terminator takes out laser cannon and shoots place to hell with big firefight and massive body count - action scene
- kyle, sarah & t-800 have massive car chase down highways where they throw many pipe bomb that explode everywhere, t-800 knocked off bike and crunched by large truck. t-800 hijack truck and chases kyle and sarah until kyle put bomb in truck and it go up like hiroshima - this is HUGE action
- kyle and t-800 have hand to hand combats in robot factory with metal bar and then he put pipe bomb in t-800 and it explode. then mini t-800 chase sarah through factory and she crush him in machine - this is GREAT action
^^ all this happen after big action scene that introduce kyle in future war before tech noir. so that mean there is action all throughout 100 min runtime
terminator 1, along with first bloods, was the films that changed action genre. it was first film to use fast editing technique, fast cuts (like way reese shoots t-800 in tech noir). it move story along faster while giving you exposition with action. every film that come out of first bloods & terminator 1 - they copy them. copy their style.
there is no way in HELLS that terminator is slasher film hahahah. it is action-scifi film.

You are purposefully dividing it up and trying to make it seem like there’s more action than there really is.
The tech noir shootout and car chase happen at the same time, after that there is a long lull of no action
The assault on the police precinct is less of an action scene and more to punctuate the unstoppable horror of the terminator. Much like the way it infiltrated the Resistance camp and destroyed that one. That’s an action scene in the same way the opening of Saving Private Ryan is an “action” scene. It shows the slaughter that is a post-nuclear holocaust. It’s not meant to be entertaining like Rambo.
The scene of Sarah Connor being chased through the factory is like Ellen Ripley being chased by the creature at the end of Alien. THAT whole sequence takes place over 20 or so minutes, are you calling Alien less of a slasher/horror movie?
Terminator is as much of a slasher as Scream or Halloween. I could easily break up Scream into a bunch of “action” and chase scenes too if I wanted. Or Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. The imagery of the T800 skeleton rising from the flames and chasing them is much like Michael Myers or Jason chasing their prey. It’s all horror based.
Now you are going to say Terminator was the first movie with quick-edits? Try the Wild Bunch.

no horror film has this because horror film have knife and killer and tits. that is there action, not 100 mins of action.

no. along with first bloods, it was first film in ACTION to use this. before these film, you have slow action film like dirty harry which last 2 years. terminator speed everything up in lightning pace. it last 100 mins but feels half that because of editor mark goldblatt.

did you watch this film aliens? they have toy lines for this film with guns, assault ships and apc's. nerds dress up as these warriors at conventions, with combat gear and pulse rifles hahah. it is action!!

for film to qualify as action movie, you need to have minimum half dozen scenes of firefights. this includes: many weaponry, many shootings, many peoples kill, many explosion, many vehicles and ships fireing at each other, many bombs, and many sfx scenes - models, miniature, stop motions etc (which terminator all have).
terminator 1 qaulifys as action movie because it have NINE action setpiece throughout 100 mins of film hahahah!! that is action scene every 11 mins!!
halloween and screams do not qualify as action because they do not have 6 or more set piece of firefights!! there are slasher film with weirdo killing horny young peoples.
