There was nothing likable about herShe annoyed me from the very start where she keeps chattering while working when she could just shut up and concentrate on her work (I know the scene is supposed to show that she's a film freak, but still). She lets her husband control her, can't decide who she loves, is so dependent on a man..She did nothing right from the beginning to the end. She is the perfect example of a pushover.
Mia Farrow talking like a female version of Woody Allen didn't help either..I mean she's one of my favorite actresses and I thnk she is fabulous and talented, but the Woody Allen impersonation really makes me cringe -

I almost totally disagree. Oh, yeah, she'd be more fun if she were focused, but then there would be no movie. And she chatters at times, but far more often she's silent, totally the opposite of Allen's nebbish. And she did stand up to her husband. If you think that wasn't brave, then you haven't grasped the world she lived in. Purple Rose shows far more of the working class than anything else Allen has done, at least in what I remember.
I would start singing to Cecilia's ukulele and stay with her forever.

Ditto. And people on this thread have complained about her voice being annoying, whereas I found myself frequently enchanted by how sweet-sounding it was, throughout!
I thing she was the best part of the film.
Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize! -

As with pretty much every character Farrow ever played, she does come across kinda overbearing & annoying, but all the same shes very far from Stiffys hyperactive schtick here.

I thought Cecilia was an absolute darling. Love the scene in which she stood up to her crude abusive husband Monk, which took a lot of guts for her to do.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
