Couldn't find much about him on the net. Can't believe he was only 14 when he acted in the movie. There were some bold, controversial and difficult subjects which the film took on that even adult actors would shun, but what a stunning and matured performance. It really makes the Hollywood child actors look like rank amateurs. That transformation from that bustling youth to that shattered and terrified kid was so heartbreaking to watch. Towards the end you'd notice he hardly spoke a word, everything he wanted to tell us was already spoken through that delirious, confused expression.

Agreed. Brilliant acting on his part. I read somewhere that the role stressed him out so much that he didn't act in anything for another ten years. Someone probably saw that he wasn't in anything for 10 years and made up that it was he was so stressed by the role.

I read his biography in Russian Wikipedia. He was born in 1969 and "Idi i smotri" was released in 1985 and created recently before the release. Klimov wanted to help Kravchenko play and not go mad and tought him autogenic therapy. Also a phichologist joined the team to control Kravchenko's mental state. I'm not sure the reason for delay in his career was the stress only. He continued his education, served in the army, graduated from a drama school and became an actor in a theatre what was quite usual for children actors in USSR/Russia. His filmography by now is already rather big but I doubt there is anything worth mentioning in it simply because quality of current Russian movies is uncomparably lower that one of best Soviet movies.
