I just heard they are planning on making a sequel to this masterpiece. Never do this! This is a one off film and that's what makes it so special. So if they make a sequel which of course by now would be useless and pointless would make the original not special. So they better not ever do this.
There is a chance that it won't happen because they've been talking about a sequel to Spaceballs for the last 2 years but it hasn't happened. I hope they never make a sequel to either film.

i am very happy and pleased you think this too. i mean come on! there is a very good reason why we have never gotten a sequel to this movie, spaceballs, ferris bueller's day off, etc. bc they are one off movies. movies in which a sequel is not necessary or needed bc they told the whole story in one movie and bc they are better as one movie and not two. also they are more special bc there is only one of them, you know?
and the older i get the less i care about new movies and the more i hate them bc they worse they get!
do you ever notice how as time goes by from the 2000s to the 2010s to the 2020s the worse movies have gotten? and bc of this the fewer movies you love from the '00s to the '10s to the '20s?
i hated so much how they made a sequel to beetlejuice bc they didn't need to make it bc it was perfectly fine to have one movie.
don't you agree they didn't need to make it? i mean there has to be a reason why they didn't make one for 36 years! right? the reason why is bc it was unnecessary.
gosh i looked at what movies were in theaters a few weeks ago and i noticed there were 4 movies playing in a theater which were all remakes or sequels.
it was beetlejuice sequel, twister sequel, the crow remake, and alien: romulus. if this is not the biggest and clearest indictment and biggest proof that hollywood has lost all creativity then i don't know what is? i mean 4 of these movies all at the same time in theaters?

I agree with you 100%. I'd rather watch an old movie than anything made this decade. They've run out of ideas and talent.

If a studio thinks there's money to be made, they'll do it. I'm surprised they haven't mined the Nostalgia for that film already.

what? there is no nostalgia if it is a new movie. a new movie means new movie not old nostalgia movie. if we wanted this then we would watch the original movie.

Yes, but it draws audiences who want to capture that feeling of nostalgia.
It's the same reason people are paying insane amounts of money for Oasis tickets. The last time they saw the band, they were in their 20s, had fewer worries, life was good. Now they're in their 40s with a lot more disposable income, willing to pay a premium to recapture some of that feeling.
