A stereotype of dark-spirited, opportunist, greedy Jews: like Fagan in Oliver Twist?
I know both Scrooge & Flintheart are depicted as Scots and not to mix classics, Dickens Scrooge is a Brit who is just as dark as Fagan.
Maybe I'm looking too deep into the meaning his first and last name.

I think you let your own bigotry shine through. My stepfather was Jewish and he loved Duck Tales, he could even mimic Donald's voice. What you did is you saw a last name with "Gold" in it and you made the Jewish connection even though there's no sign that he's Jewish.

Glomgold is from South Africa, but as it still had racial problems in the 80's; they made him Scott.
