Leonard Nimoy's Spock is always a joy to watch. A lot of the credit for that has to go to NBC. Nimoy was very close to leaving Star Trek after the first season, but NBC insisted on keeping him.

I heard the opposite - the execs at NBC thought Spock looked demonic with the ears and wanted him gone, but the show producers talked them out of it.
Leonard Nimoy stayed because it was the logical thing to do. -

That was when they were pitching the pilot. In fact, after the show was picked up they even airbrushed Spock's pointy ears out of a sales brochure. After Leonard Nimoy became a fan hit in the first season he demanded a raise before season two. Gene Roddenbery was ready to go with a different actor to play Spock, but the NBC executives insisted that Leonard Nimoy return.

I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned Leonard Nimoy, DeForrest Kelly, or James Doohan.
I thought of those as well but as Trekkies we can hardly call them "guest stars" special appearances would be a better definition in their cases. -

That sounds like a reasonable explanation. Although no matter what you call them I believe they deserve mention. I thought James Doohan in particular was outstanding in his "special appearance".

Honestly, Drunk, you're right. They should've been mentioned. I completely forgot about them. Kirsten Dunst is another good one.
RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time. RIP Matt Roberts. You were great. -
