It is never specifically mentioned in the screenplay, but does anyone know what job Ellie Keegan had?
There are hints in the dialogue, but her job is never directly referred to as follows:
[The Keegan family are sitting down to breakfast]
Ellie: When my dad was a cop he used to said Elle, never go out with a cop. So what do I do? I get a job with the cops, I marry a cop, and Ive probably given birth to a cop.
[In Mikes conversation with Claire about Ellie]
Mike: It was like the first time I met her, I knew, I mean she looked so adorable in that cops uniform putting on the tough act.
Claire: So, it was love at first sight?
Mike: Yeah, it was.
So does anyone know what Ellies job was?

What I got from it was that she used to be a cop (probably just starting) but quit after she had Tommy to be a stay at home mom.
