You said it! If anything that cardboard cut-out was juxtaposed in that particular scene just to screw with the audience.

Just like the legendary Wizard of Oz urban legend, it's not true.

If the movie had actually stood the test of time there wouldn't be so much focus on the 'ghost'.

I think this movie does stand the test of time. How does it not? There are no special effects, really no pop culture referencesand the situation and dialogue are still funny.
                    Compelling.Brilliant.Beautifully acted.

The point is from the moment the film hit home video after it's sucessful theatrical performance the one constant 'legend' surrounding it hasn't been anything to do with it's 'quality' but all to do with whether or not there's a bloody ghost captured accidentally onscreen.
We have to disagree but If the film had been seen as a classic comedy in the following years (which generally it really hasn't) people on boards like this would be discussing alot more than a piece of cardboard mistaken for a spook.

Loved the classic song Daddy's girl by Peter Cetera. Also, Paul Guilfoyle and Earl Hindman were terrific villains.

There is a ghost, its flat appearance and the fact that it was in a studio proves it, that's how ghosts look in movie studios, and it explains the late Steve Guttenberg's acting.
You get angered way too easily.
