Who would live alone in that place with a ghost lurking around?

        What ghost?
That "apartment" was a sound stage in Toronto.
Any talk of a ghost would have to fall into the "Urban Legend" category.

Alot of people can afford to live alone, but its nicer to live with your friends
I know a bunch of girls who live in an apartment, but they all split the rent between them and share the bills, food shopping and repairs, chores etc
But they always have fun together and raves and everything so i guess its nice to live with friends
My sister is my friend and i want to move into a house with her someday because i love her as a friend and as family
I know we'll have lots of fun together

why not? their aim looked like they were gonna work & party together & get laid (pay all together). BFFs forever. until Mary arrived . this looked like loads of fun, like a FRIENDS lifestyle.

Consider also that NYC is super-expensive. That apartment would probably go for $5,000+ per month in 2010 dollars. Even if you have a good job, that's tough to swing.
I just went from living along to having a roommate, and it's actually very nice. I really needed help with the bills, and it's nice to have someone to hang out with.

Look at the location. Even in the 1980s a penthouse apartment that large in that high a high-rise in downtown Manhattan would have been way too much for three regular people - unless they were trust-fund babies, millionaire children of billionaires.

It's much easier living with other people.

I think that penthouse apartment made up that entire floor. Look at the square footage. They practically have their own solarium next to their kitchen. Even for the 80s, that was one fcking expensive place to live. 3 men were occupying that whole floor. Why not turn that whole floor into a cool pad?

In NYC? Even in '80's the rents were insane. Architects don't earn huge salaries either.
