It needs a better release than the current fullscreen/nothing to offer version. This is a fantastic film that deserves better treatment. Also "Frantic" is in the same boat. Came out the same year and got the same treatment on DVD.

I agree that the DVD really could have used some special features but the original aspect ratio in which the movie was shot is probably fullscreen. If they were to release a widescreen edition, it would probably be cropped at the top and bottom.

^ IMDB's tech specs page for this film states that it was originally shot in 1.85:1 widescreen..

It was shot in 1.85:1 widescreen. I saw this in the theatre back in 1988. Buy now Im hoping that WB will do something for it on Blu-Ray like a double feature release.. similar to Frantic/Presumed Innocent. It would be nice to have some special features on it A look back kind of thing, but Id just like to have it in widescreen and a decent transfer.

That's the problem with a lot of these older releases of smaller movies. The DVDs were made back when people still only had fullscreen TVs, so they were only putting fullscreen versions of movies on DVD like they would with VHS. Everyone starts getting widescreen TVS, but newer releases of these old DVDs are never reprinted with a widescreen version. And who's to say when a Blu-ray will actually be released? Shame.

That 720p widescreen webrip is unfortunately a 4:3 version cropped top and bottom, or at least the one I saw. There is supposedly a 1080p webrip floating around the interwebs that is actually widescreen (no cropping).
