Kristen dies, as soon as she dies i dunno the movie just has a different vibe and i was never a fan of Alice. I hated the way all the Dream Warriors was just dispatched of within like 5 minutes and we get introduced to a new set of teens.
I genuinely like the first half of the movie, then when Kristen dies it really gets hard to get through, feels like a chore almost. And man talk about a lame death, Freddy just throws Kristen into some water thats on fire and it looks like she has sh!t all over her face as shes dying.
Why couldn't it have just been Kincaid, Joey and Kristen for the whole movie? That way when they die near the end it means more.
Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age. -

Rewatching the franchise back last Halloween seasons, I'd say the first and the third are the only really good films and like you said this one really stank after Alice dead even though it has it moments like the Rick character for instance.

The moment Kristin dies is the moment we feel the impact of Wes Craven's decision to write the series into a dead end in his attempt to kill the series and all we are left with is convuluted crap writing to explain how the movies can even be happening anyway and they should've strove to be like Freddy's Dead much sooner than they did and let Wes go direct some fruity Last House on Brokeback Mountain independent movies and smell his own farts over there

I'm sure the poster you were responding to in regards to:
The moment Kristin dies is the moment we feel the impact of Wes Craven's decision to write the series into a dead end in his attempt to kill the series
was talking about part 3. Wes was trying to close off the series (and actually never wanted a series either) so he wrote lines such as "You're the last of the elm street kids" and killed off Nancy/Nancy's dad in an attempt to stop the series from continuing forward. So to keep it alive, Kristen and the remaining dream warriors were written into 4 only as a "pass the torch" or more fitting, PASS her powers to Alice so Freddy could keep killing.
