In order of current preference taking into account my years of watching them (since 1988).
Part 1
Part 3
Part 6
Part 2
Part 4
Part 5
New Nightmare.
1 & 3 make clear sense to be on top, the 1st for obvious reasons, but Dream Warriors because it connects with the 1st more coherently, Nancy being the connection.
As goofy as Freddy's Dead is, it is still much more fun than parts 4 & 5 for me, it shows interesting back story to Freddy, and despite not being as dark, sends the series off with a bang! Literally.
I don't understand the hatred for Freddys Revenge. Its dark, seedy, and the last film that keeps Freddy mostly in the dark, until the series went all MTV on us. The story also stands out more for me, than just the usual staple of what we all got used to after this film. The way Freddy use's the body of one teenager to do his killing, instead of just one nightmare after another.
Parts 4 & 5 are clear MTV cash-ins, just like the spin off series. They are entertaining, and creative in the dream sequences, but lacking in any real tension or scares. Just pure fun.
New Nightmare is a good film. Its different, I'll give it that, but to me it stands alone, and with that in mind, I dropped it down at the bottom. Maybe it was a little
too
far fetched, and the novelty for me soon wore off. -

I love them all but I do however have a pecking order for them set in my mind.
So here is my list from Best to Worst as your requested but I'm going to give a short thought's on each one just to provide some character to my list.
1)A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984) 10/10
"This is my all time favorite Slasher film.I loved that it dared to do something different new the slasher formula in a increasingly stale time of the genre. The film is a all time masterpiece. The creation of Freddy Krueger is the best ever as he has a personality and has a more powerful weapon than a Knife or a Machete.Nancy is a stronger character as she uses her own wit to stop Freddy."
2)A Nightmare on Elm Street 4:The Dream Master 10/10
"This film duplicated the plot structure of the original to a teat. This film is just so damn fun and creative to watch.Freddy is at his peak with the comedy and Horror in this film."
3)Freddy's Dead:The Final Nightmare 10/10
"A film with a bizarre tone. The film also has tons of fun and creativity. The film also features some neat cameos. This doesn't disrespect the mythology like so many franchised Horror films at the time did."
4)A Nightmare on Elm Street 2:Freddy's Revenge 9/10
"Darker than the original,Great characters, & I loved the homosexual themes this film had."
5)Freddy Vs. Jason 9/10
"Pure lovely fan service.A great way to bring two Horror icons into one fine film. The style of the film is cool. The whole film is just fun."
6)Wes Craven's New Nightmare 9/10
"A clever and unique concept to apply to the franchise at the right time.I liked the Demon's makeup design and outfit. The film just doesn't mess around. It's very cool to see Heather in the franchise once more."
7)A Nightmare on Elm Street 5:The Dream Child 8/10
"A great way to build off Part 4's story with some mature themes and gothic atmosphere. The film has just has a great deal of Child like fun to it."
8)A Nightmare on Elm Street 3:The Dream Warriors 8/10
"A film with a wonderful concept, great characters that all are endearing,Great callbacks to the original & all around a great film."
9)A Nightmare on Elm Street(2010) 8/10
"Not a bad film at all actually pretty damn enjoyable mordenized re-telling of the original's story. The film introduces a lot of cool ideas. The film is also very dark."
I love them all and have each one near and dear to my heart.
