    why does marty and jennifer see their future selves? they skipped over 30 years in the time machine so therefore, they wouldn't see their older future selves.

      They skip over 30 years that eventually occur normally. The future includes everything that
      will
      happen.

        They are seeing themselves in the future on the basis that they will later on return to 1985 and then continue to live their lives normally.
        The versions of them they see in the future are a representation of what will happen to them if events continue to run their natural course, in other words, without any interference from their time-travelling selves.

          Since time travel hasn't been invented we really don't know the rules. The rules shown here is it's possible to time travel and as long as you don't die can return and live it out

            This is what I've always said. They would have been missing for 30 years and would see old articles in magazines etc about themselves and their story.
