      I thought it was alot when I saw this movie back in 1990- apparently it went a long way since they were able to open up the business in NYC.

        That was in 1989. $55k in 1989 would be equivalent to approximately $108k with inflation taken into account.

            Yeah but in the original book, Hooper had saved more than that, I think about $300,000, so why'd they change it?
