If I could choose any two detectives as partners across all seasons (original series), I would pick these three:

Logan/Fontana (I envision them as hating each other's guts - lol)
Oh my God, Fontana would take one look at Mikey's plaid ties and roll his eyes so hard they'd fall out of his head.
Although I think Logan would like Fontana's "Oh, it's OK, we're authorized!" routine. -

Lenny Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Joe Fontana (Dennis Farina) Just for theas the Tv ad says. Add in a few "Wise Cracks" Those two together would make funny comments. Both has passed on now. Liked all the L&O shows they were on.

Lenny would have been requesting a new partner in the first ten minutes of the episode. I've got the feeling that there weren't a lot of detectives who could stand working with Goren for very long (not even Munch).

Barring the Classic combo of Briscoe and Logan, I would have enjoyed an SVU crossover, and had Logan partnered with Olivia Benson. It would have been extremely interesting to see how Cragen handled the situation, and would have been a "Learning Experience" for all three of them.
I do hope he won't upset Henry -

Eames knew how to stay out of the way and let Goren do his thing. No other cop could work with him unless they're ready to stand behind his eccentric behavior. Nevertheless Goren is my fave. I agree with many posters that Lenny works well with anyone.

Guess why Falco can't make my list,
He was better when he was the Limo Driver that loved that model that the Big Time Gangster made him kill. If I remember the episode correctly?
He was so good I think the victim's name was Sharon? I recall him saying he ratted on the Gangster "for Sharon."?
