Anyone else feel a little sorry for Billy Bats?

I feel kind of bad for Billy Bats. He was being very loving and affectionate and generous. He was in a very good mood, celebrating his release from prison. Tommy was kind of being a jerk, he started off making it obvious he did not like Billy and when Billy hugged him affectionately he pushed the guy away and said something about not messing up his suit and "dont bust my balls".
Billy should have just let it go after Tommy accepted his apology, had he done this he would have lived much longer and the rest of the night could have been fun. But I think if you factor in what a jerk Tommy was being what Billy really deserved was just a good beating, not death. They should have just beaten him up really badly instead of killing him. -

They couldn't just beat him up and leave it at that, since he was a made guy. Batts would tell the powers that be, and that would be the end of Tommy anyway.
From what I've been able to gather on other threads on this topic, Batts had molested Tommy when he was younger, so Tommy's anger at Batts upon seeing him was understandable, when put into that context. And then Billy making the shinebox remark right there in front of Tommy's date and his friends was so blatantly disrespectful that it sent Tommy over the edge.
You're right, Billy should have just let it go, but he probably still saw Tommy as a little kid and didn't realize just how crazy he had gotten. -

What thread said Tommy was molested ?
I don't know, I can't find it now. I seem to remember reading it more than once on a couple of threads here, which made Tommy's outburst make a lot more sense and explained a bit more about his character. Maybe I misremembered.
