Methuen published the script of "Reflecting Skin" with Philip Ridley's "Passion of Darkly Noon" in a book called "American Dreams" and I finally read it last night. I highly recommend picking it up before it goes out of print.
Ridley's descriptions are as stunning as the film itself and anyone interested in screenwriting should give it a read. He has almost invented an entirely new form of filmmaking where plot, theme, and even dialogue become insignificant. He lets the visuals take over. It's a series of paintings, translated into words. It also reads like a twisted novel.
Interestingly, the script sheds little light on some of the questions I had after seeing the film initially. My feeling is that Ridley likes throwing bizarre situations and images at the viewer and leaves him to interpret it. Much like waking up from a dream and trying to piece it all together.
