Except gay people have plenty of rights, probably even more than straight people do in today's day and age. I really don't care if you like pride or go to marches but I still think it's a gimmick for wanting special treatment and attention.

At a recent Pride festival in Idaho several dozen men were arrested for conspiracy to incite a riot. They wore riot gear and are believed to be members of a white supremecist group called Patriot Front. This is exactly why Pride festivals are important. Because there are still large swathes of people who propagate prejudice and violence against gay people. Protesting is one thing but inciting a riot is quite another. And as long as intolerance against the gay community exists we will find a way to provide a safe space without violence for people to celebrate.

While I don't attend them, nor really care too, you make a good salient point.
If the attitude of staunch straight people is to deride and undermine those that aren't, then they are going down a very dangerous path.
I can understand the pushing in one's faces of something that many can't relate too, yet many gay people may not relate to the Transgender/Intersex thing either. What has this got to do with fundamental sexuality?
These parades have now become more than just about homosexuality. This is what people need to learn to discern within themselves and not distort sexuality into something more than what it is. This is from both gay and straight counterparts.

Some man attempted to organize a straight pride parade a few years ago and was loudly criticized for it so much that I think he ended up canceling those plans.

It wasn't like an anti gay thing at all.
I just don't see a problem with what he wanted to do.
It's the gays and the fag hags that did and were overly sensitive to his equal right to show his pride.
