According the trivia page, Alyssa Milano wanted to play the part of Danielle in this movie at the time it was shot, but Tony Danza refused to let her do the movie. A few months ago, there was a live Internet chat with Milano on Reddit's AMA page, and I asked her if it was true. Milano's response: "What? I don't think so. Holy beep that would be a great story." There you have it.

Tony Danza refused?? lol thats funny.
Tony Danza played her father in a TV show, but he's not her father in real life. He doesnt have any say in what roles she can play.
thats rediculous! lol someone should remove that from the trivia page.
      its obviously erroneous

Sometimes the main star of a TV show has the clout to control who is hired and fired on said show. And sometimes, if those stars are on family shows or just have giant sticks in their conservative butts, they try to ensure that their costars maintain wholesome images and don't pick scandalous projects. It's why David Hasselhoff got to frown on hiring Playboy models for "Baywatch" or why Cosby criticized the girl who played his eldest daughter on his sitcom after she got naked in a Mickey Rourke movie. Stars can heavily influence, i.e. put the kibosh on, questionable career choices of their costars.

but Baywatch wasn't anything UNTIL it started having playboy models on it. and Baywatch sucked before playboy models started appearing on it. it was boring in it's first season. it wasn't popular until it started having playboy models on it.
