Oh danny I hope you enjoy the weddingKA BOOM!!!
That was hilarious, I actually thought it happened because I was watching it while I was doing something else.
Also, How does Sheedy think it is unreasonable that he calls his mother after she got into the car with somebody who was drunk? I mean, Sheedy should have been worried herself. I mean c'mon, so unbelievable. Also, how could she stand him up like that? She is such a C#nt. The writers should have come up with a better example of how Danny was still attached to his mom, or shown how he was still too child-like. It is just so messed up that she leaves him like that, which could crumble a normal man. Considering how danny was already so lonely, I do not see how he was so level headed with the whole situation. He should have went to Hawaii or some place tropic and partied with Belushi. Get lucky and find a good women on vacation with her girlfriends.

Her character is very insecure. She is also noticing that Danny always seems to be a little to worried about his mother. I think that Theresa believed Rose when she said she wouldn't get in the car with the drunk and she didn't. The two of them were looking at the baker finishing up their wedding cake so that moment should've been their own but Danny ruined it by letting his guilt take over.
There comes a time when a person has to cut the cord with his mother. Danny was at the point where he needs to put his future wife first. He worried too much.

Do you think he wants some cheese?

They didn't write that part properly IMO. Yes she should shown some concern too since his mother was getting into a car with a drunk. Then again, she shouldn't have been in that position to begin with Danny should have put her in a cab or gotten her a ride with somebody else before leaving. Anyhoo the idea was for Theresa to tire of Danny continually being guilted into calling his mother and speak out at long last about this. The scene was supposed to be the crescendo to that. Ofcourse it turned out to be insensitive on her part, which like I said was the writers' fault. It should have been written differently like the other scenes and then Theresa could have had an honest beef about him making yet another phonecall unnecessarily.

the whole double wedding stand up didn't add up to me either. i wonder if there were a lot scenes left on the cutting room floor. he stood her up, too, right? can't believe they never showed all the people leaving the chapel. seems like that would have been prime for comedy or something.

You gotta remember that Teresa is seeing a repeat of this behavior with Danny. Although the film doesn't show it, they go on several dates and so he probably always calls in the middle of them. Here's an example from my life
I go to a support group for 2 years, for months a group member likes to talk to me because I'm nicebut its always about the same problem. She never does anything to fix the problem no matter how many people tell her to. Now imagine you come to the group and she talks to youit's not gonna bother you as much because you haven't been dealing with it as long as I have. That's basically what Teresa is going through, it's not the behavior but the constant repeating of it.
It's ok to call and check in on your momit's not ok to call your mom 3 times a day to check on her.
I thought the double stand-up was kinda lame too.
Wayne Enterprises buys and sells companies like Stark Industries

I think this comment hits on the weakest part of this likable film. Theresa should only have been so upset with Danny if he was constantly/quite frequently phoning to check on his mother. As depicted, he did it ONE TIME in her presence, and only twice to the knowledge of the viewer. They needed only to have her say something like, "Danny, in our last five dates, you've called at least a dozen times to check on her" Then we would not have been so critical of her behavior.
I was also bothered by her immaturity by running away after the dumb Polish joke Rose told in the restaurant. She should have showed strong qualities by taking it when Rose was saying those dumb things. Or, at least, not run out so quickly, but given Rose a chance to get to know hersince she was serious about Danny.
I could never be screenwriter, but I honestly feel I could help eliminate various weak points in a lot of films.
There were some weak points but overall this was a good, mostly serious, film.

Er, she insulted her knocker size, implied she was a drunk, and railed on her nationality. Theresa actually gave it to Rose twice (grow breasts line and cut up chicken and devour it), then bailed. Pretty much how I'd play 'er.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. O'Hara's timing and body language. I can see that scene play out in my head right now. Lol
I also like when Rose is greeted at the door by that creepy guy with the mask on Halloween:
Something like: "Leave me alone youyou crack-maniac!"
I can't stand Rom Com's but this film is great. John Candy has always been a favorite of mine. He was such a great actor and person. RIP John.
"I learned that in prison, you like? You white trash piece-a sh!t."
