This is lame. You come in the discussion board and expect not to find spoilers? This is where we are supposed to discuss movies for Pete's sake. What are you doing here anyway if you haven't watched it? You wouldn't understand what any of us are discussing without watching it.
As for OP, yes you assumed correct. His face was so disfigured after the accident that the doctors used the husband's picture to reconstruct the lover's face.
