What if Hicks was just killed off differently?

I still like Alien 3, but like many others, I was peeved about Hicks and Newt being killed off. Others argue that Ripley needed to be alone against the Xenomorphs. While I think this is over exaggerated, the idea of Ripley battling alone is compelling.
Along that train of thought What if Hicks was killed off differently? For me, as a fan of Hicks (and Newt), it was never that they died so much as
how
they died. It reeked of rewrites, cheapness of Fox's part, and was pretty insulting. But I understand the argument that they needed to be removed from the plot somehow
I don't think Hicks needed a cheesy heroic death, but he deserved better than off screen circumstance. It's interesting to note that Michael Biehn first thought the character was going to be killed pre-credits via a chestburster and thought that was insulting. I agree. Don't kill him offscreen, don't kill him via chestburster, but don't give him a cliche hero death
He could have been killed by the prisoners, an alien, or by some other means. I always thought he should have been in the film helping Ripley and growing closer with her only to be killed by the company somehow. -

I think they could've swapped out Dillon with Hicks in the lead mold. He could've fought the alien there and sacrificed his life, thus buying Ripley some time to get the lead container over the mold. Or perhaps he could've helped Ripley commit suicide at the end like Morse and lived after heralthough the thought of Hicks spending the rest of his life in a Company prison is rather depressing.

The Dillon example is a really good one, actually. Heroic but not as cliche as other options, and he could have had the same kind of sway and bravado, without coming across as brutish as Dillon would have been a good fit for sure

Although I miss Hix and Noot, he was way to strong of a character to have in this setting where the warden acted as the antagonist by not listing to Ripley's concerns and drawing out the process. Hix would have taken control immediately and began a sweep of the facility or began an escape/hide out plan. Not that the change in the storyline would have been bad but Ripley wouldn't have had as big of a part.
That's what I love about these high school girls, manI get older, they stay the same age. -

I'm really glad they killed both of 'em off right at the beginning. It was important for Alien3's story and themes that Ripley woke up on the planet alone and had to hold her own against these criminals. Plus by killing them off at the beginning the movie punched us in the stomach, saying anything could happen in this movie and anyone could die, even Besides, as good as Hicks and Newt were for Aliens, they were one dimensional characters.

They all made it back to earth safely and became a family with a repaired/restored Bishop as their PA.
A3 is just nightmares of Rip because remember in 2 when she had them?

Movie would’ve been better if they all died in the crash — roll credits. Because Ripley died at the end anyway and kills the alien, so what’s the narrative point in her surviving the crash? All the events of the movie are pointless. The Company shows up to collect the specimen, everyone dies anyway along with the specimen, so the Company leaves with nothing.
That way no one would be forced to watch another 2 hours of this turd.
