I think it's relative.. if all you had in the world was $100 then the potion would cost $99. If you were super duper rich, then the potion would cost millions.

Hello! I love that prop! I would be very interested in buying it from you if you are interested in selling it?
        Thank you!

As you might remember Lisle clearly said that the cost of the potion was different for everybody.
As Madeline finds out Helen also used the potion, she asks how much Helen paid, to which Helen replies with: "Everything I had and that was CHEAP!" Considering that answer, the cost of the potion is really how much you can afford, e.g. your entire fortune.

I imagine they charged as much as they could get, but regarding Helen's "and that was CHEAP!" I always took that to mean she thought it was priceless or invaluable to get her youth/looks back, not that she necessarily got it for a low amount. But yes, fat, insane Helen might have been charged $50k which could have broke her, and Madeline was charged $1m, which might have been their remaining fortune. But I imagine Helen wrote a few books and made some money before she managed to even hear about the potion, so she was probably charged a lot, or maybe owed them part of her future income. I can't see letting the potion go for a really cheap price.

Helen said that she took the potion on October 26, 1985, which would've been shortly after leaving the institution.

I don't want to burst any bubbles here. It may be an unused prop of the movie but clearly not the one that was used in the film. The film check is marked 5931 and the next check is 5932. This photo is of a check that is listed as 5937.
I love the movie always been a huge fan of films and props used in movies.

Probably just from a different take. It’s clearly the same handwriting when you compare it to the screenshot from the Blu-ray posted below by another user.
Sweet prop. Would love to know how much it was, and where it was bought from.

Apologies for bumping this thread but thank you for solving that years long mystery, don-cotton-1! The first time I saw this film was when I was pretty young and this has always been a point of curiosity for me.
I actually started overthinking it and wondered whether it was a huge amount of money, or something more sinister, like selling your soul or something haha!

That is so cool. Things went into a strange twist for me in life. I sometimes watch Death becomes her and wonder what it would be like to have a second chance at youth.
Thank you for letting me know the cost. 🙂
