Clearly this movie was shot on 35mm film, so is there a widescreen version available anywhere? I mean, I realize the movie was pretty terrible & originally straight-to-video (at least here in America), so it makes sense for the standard edition to be in a 4:3 screen ratio, but was there ever a 16:9 version of this film?

Yes. Paramount released a widescreen version of it in 2006. I have it. It's a good looking print of the movie (much better than the earlier pan & scan Lions Gate release).

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

It wasn't straight to video; it had a theatrical release.
